Legionella Edinburgh was established in 2014 and is run by Kevin Dempsey. Kevin has extensive experience of the private rented sector, having been a landlord for nearly ten years, and has written an e-book on managing property in Scotland. He has also spent most of the last seven years working in residential lettings. He has worked as a property manager at one of the largest letting agencies in Edinburgh, managing a portfolio of 450 properties, has managed a letting agency branch office in Midlothian and has been a Director of an Edinburgh based letting agency.

When legionella risk management started to be mentioned for the private rented sector, Kevin was disappointed to find numerous companies seeking to prey on the ignorance of landlords and letting agents. Offering expensive risk assessments (often for £100 or more) and unnecessary services such as water testing, it was clear that there was a need for competent, ethical businesses to provide guidance and services to the private rented sector. Furthermore, landlords and agents failed to understand that unlike other legal requirements such as gas safety checks, legionella risk management is an ongoing process, and can’t simply be achieved by an annual check. Kevin qualified as a Legionella Risk Assessor in 2014 to help rectify these issues and the range of services we offer has grown since then.

Legionella Edinburgh has been established to assist and support landlords and letting agents. We provide training and support to all our customers so that they can understand their responsibilities fully, and work with landlords and letting agents to incorporate legionella risk management into their existing processes.

We believe in the simple principle of providing our customers with a high quality service, delivered promptly, and at a fair price.
